Bollywood and Hollywood celebrities have been sporting side-swept hairstyles on red carpets this year. It is an easy hairstyle to follow and could work on both long and medium length hair.
Kareena Kapoor and Eva Longoria
If you have long hair, try wearing it straight and sleek and sweeping it to a side like Kareena or add some soft waves after straightening like Eva Longoria.
Alia Bhatt and Taylor Swift
If you have short or medium-length hair, try adding more curls or waves before sweeping it your side like Taylor Swift. Alia Bhatt shows there is more than one way to show off your glossy and thick hair by straightening it neatly and letting it cascade on her left shoulder.
Kristen looks very young and sexy with her hair looking unruly and carelessly swept over her left. Try this look only if your hair is healthy and free of split-ends. When you are wearing your hair like Kristen, go full-on and also try her smoky eyes and rosy cheeks.
Who wears bright red lipstick anymore? Well, the bold and the beautiful of course! The colour trends for winter are darker shades such as Plum Couture (Estee Lauder), Hypnotic (a berry shade from Dior) or Chocolate Ice (Clinique) however red is a colour that has never gone out of style.
Let’s see how some of our Bollywood Divas have worn red this year:
Kareena Kapoor and Amisha Patel look divine in their white dress and red lipstick. Nothing makes red lips sexier than a white Grecian Goddess gown on the red carpet.
While Esha Gupta (right) wears dark red lipstick with a simple shift dress, Deepika Padukone wears the same colour with a glamorous red lace and sheer gown. The effect on Esha is sprightly but it fails on Deepika as a lighter shade would have complemented her red dress better.
Both Shazahn Padamsee and Esha Gupta look sultry in an orangish red shade as the colour brings out a glow in their pretty faces and works well with their animal print and nautical stripes outfits.
So, get ready for the party season and go buy that red lipstick you always wanted to try! Don’t forget to come back to share your experience with us..
Braided hair has come back as a beauty trend this year with models sporting tightly braided hair on the runways and Bollywood celebrities sporting more relaxed and loose braided hair at social events.
Kajol wore her hair braided and falling on the side to Big B’s 70th birthday party. The assymetric kurta teamed with her loosely braided hair gave her a carefree and youthful look. On the right, Bipasha wears a green mini-skirt and coral top and her unruly braided hair to Vinegar store launch in Mumbai. The chunky necklace and the sheer top made the loosely braided hair look incredibly sexy.
Dia Mirza wore her hair tightly and neatly braided as she walked the ramp for Manish Malhotra and set a new fashion trend. On the right, Nargis Fakri is wearing a cute pastel green dress and her braids are tight but textured giving her a flirty and fun look.
Braided hair doesn’t have to be boring as our celebrities show us here how to wear it tightly or loosely or unruly depending on the outfit for the occasion.
Be it runways of designers like Rachel Antonoff and Nicole Miller or the finger tips of celebrities like Katy Perry and Rihanna, nail art has been spotted every where this season. From bold, elegant lines to exotic bejeweled art to 3D drawing, the variety seems to be never ending. Initially started on a small scale, this trend has been soaring high recently. Today, we have nail art studios and as surprising as it may sound but it is being recognised as a form of art.

Clearly, nail artists are in good business because women are apparently loving it. But did you ever wonder what men think of the same?
We did. On being asked if nail art seemed attractive to Sandesh Jayakar, a well known Indian fashion photographer, he said he doesn’t like it and definitely does not find it alluring. Yash Wadhwani, a teenager from Dubai had interesting insights, he opinionated,”I am more of a clear kind of a guy. Nail art can be attractive but only if the right colour combination is used. I find long nails pretty sexy and I prefer those to be painted elegantly. Nail art can risk that”.

For some reason, many men don’t seem to find nail art attractive. A few described it as “too attention seeking”. A few weren’t too judgemental and actually prefered a few elegantly done nail art exceptions.
So, is nail art a trend that will be appreciated only by your girlfriends? Will your guy rather have your nails devoid of “those things”?
We don’t beautify ourselves for men, we do it for ourselves or so we would like to believe. Mars may love it or not but it is a pretty huge trend here in Venus!
